I quite like Asian sauce, and especially this all-rounder sauce fascinated me: Asian onion sauce. This is a matching for grilled meat, surely fish (especially perfect for a prawn) and also for a dressing for salad and even for a Tofu! You can keep this sauce for 3 days in the fridge, so such a saviour for busy mums. Here is the recipe of this Asian Onion sauce: The other day, I grilled scallop with this lovely sauce and butter sauce. I added my twist to the classical butter sauce by using a kelp powder: it slightly tastes Japanese flavour. And as a side dish, I made Tantan dipping ramen (spicy dipping noodle). Umm not too bad actually. My holiday will nearly start, aww I can't wait because I'm going to attend some local culinary lessons in other countries!
I hope you all have a lovely summer. Naoko

I made this small dish studded with elements of Japanese flavours. Kelp seasoned formed egg white on top, and put some Yuzu (Japanese citrus) caviar alongside And white soy sauce seasoned salmon All vegetables are local crops.
Thank you Cornwall, I love you. Beautiful Cornwall, you always inspired new imagination in me. The other day, I made a pressed sushi, which is a traditional food in some region in Japan as I finally gained the utensil for making that. Then this was the cake: And put the tiny flower Dashi jelly alongside. Ummm, I definitely need to brush this up further for reaching my perfection, but it was huge fun to create something new!
What shall I make next? This was my first trial for the sample image of my next supper club in Truro. Car-grilled Wagyu steak and seasonal vegetable rice bowl. Wagyu has exquisite marbled appearance due to the intricate layers of intramuscular fat. Char-grilled meat is tremendously tender and has rich flavour, which melts in your mouth. And luckily I got a freshest Shiso, Japanese herb, from a local supplier. This appearance is quite similar with Nettle, but taste is totally different: more tangy, full of aromatic taste. Awww such an exotic little chap! I chose these summer seasonal vegetable from the local and cooked for the topping. And serve Cornish sea salt with kelp powder alongside. I will keep tuning the taste and presentation to my best, and I will be pleased to host you with these my love in the next month.
More light! More colour! More density! Amazing nature in Cornwall looked like exclaiming toward me. I'm really lucky to be here such a most beautiful place in Britain. After I indulged my children and myself with a pleasant sunshine, I made a healthy meal. Asian salad wraps. Everyone can chose the fillings and wrap them in lettuce: build your own wraps Fillings of this time was Grilled Pork (焼豚, Chashu), Boiled egg, Fresh vegetables and Stir fried bean thread noodle Aww I wholeheartedly thank my luck in this beautiful Cornwall.
Summer holidays has started in my house like other families in the UK. I have determined to devote this summer to enjoy with my boys as a mom, as I realised their utterly innocence stage is so precious and limited in our life. This was a diary of dinner when I brought my boys to a beach where we live close. There were fulfilled time and beautiful sunset. Picturesque Cornwall's nature always inspired and encouraged me to be creative. I just wanted to share the hearty memory to my family of that day: Seafood Pasta. 5 kinds of fresh vegetables were involved in this broth, such a healthy food. These lentils and shallot look like pebbles in a beach, don't they? I hope you are having a lovely summer.
See you soon, everyone. Naoko This is an easy peasy cooking in my daily meal. It takes only 20 minutes and adult & kids love it: everyone's happy meal The other day, I had a Japanese supper club and had lots of leftover lemon pieces. I fascinated to consume these beautiful freshness in my kitchen, then I created this recipe. Method and ingredients are quite simple and not a rocket science at all! (Have a look at my recipe attached. Here) And I served Smoked mackerel salad with creamy sesame dressing alongside. Now, finally my summer holiday has started! (yay)
I hope you all have a wonderful special summer. Naoko |
